Dr. George Fatula

George Fatula, MD, came to DuBois in 1974 with the thoughts of planting roots for his family and his practice.

Instead, he planted a legacy.

The son of a steel mill worker and a native of Duquesne, he is a graduate of Duquesne High School. He received his bachelor�s degree in chemistry from Washington and Jefferson College with Phi Bata Kappa and magna cum laude honors. He received his medical degree in 1971 from the University of Pittsburgh and had spent July 1972 to June 1974 as an intern and resident at Children�s Hospital, Pittsburgh, specializing in pediatric and adolescent medicine.

He was recruited by the DuBois and Maple Avenue Hospital Medical Resources Committee to be the first pediatrician in DuBois. He came to DuBois with his wife Renetta Fatula and their children and opened his practice.

Today, he and his fellow physicians now sees patients in DuBois, Punxsutaweny and Brookville. He has been active in many community organizations, including Boy Scouts of America, Little League and DuBois Area High School football. He is a deacon in his church.

Dr. Fatula was also honored in 2006 as the Pennsylvania Pediatrician of the Year but the American Academy of Pediatrics.
